Stephen Vasquez

Stephen Vasquez is currently employed by the University of California as a Cooperative Extension viticulture farm advisor. He has served Fresno County since 1999 and took over responsibility for Madera County in 2006. He is responsible for helping grape growers solve production issues related to table, raisin and wine grapes. Although being trained as a plant pathologist, his research program covers all areas of production including pest and disease management, grapevine nutrition, variety and rootstock evaluations as well as post harvest issues.

He attended UC Davis and graduated with a BS in biology and an MS in plant pathology where he worked on grapevine disease issues. He has been a member of PAPA since 1999 and is currently the recording secretary for PAPA’s Executive Board and full Board. He also represents PAPA on the CECPM Board of Directors as the recording secretary. Stephen also sits on PAPA’s Fresno seminar planning committee and frequently speaks at PAPA meetings held in the San Joaquin Valley

When he’s not walking vineyard rows or speaking at meetings he spends time with his wife landscaping his yard and walking his three dogs. He also enjoys a good BBQ with friends or an afternoon of fishing.
