Lawrence W. Young (Larry)
A twenty-five year veteran Account Executive of Univar. Retired July 1, 2007 A State Licensed Agricultural Pest Control Advisor since 1980. State Licensed Field Representative in Fumigation, General Pest, and Termite since 1979. A seven year Vietnam era Navy Veteran (USNR). Larry was employed by Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research 1970-1976. In 1977 Larry was hired by the Southwest Forest Range & Experiment Station (SWFRES) out of Berkeley, CA working in CA, OR, WA, and ID. Larry’s forestry skills include forest measurement (surveying & timber selection), bark beetle control via pheromone formulation and selective logging, Fir Risk Assessment, and timber felling. Larry also worked for Orkin Exterminating: 1978 – 82. Educated at Sierra Community College through the three year “Certified Forester’s Program,” the University of California at Davis - Economic Entomology, and Interpersonal Relations at Lewis & Clark College, Lewiston, ID via the US Navy. He is a Third Degree Mason and a recipient of the Hiram Award in Channel Islands Lodge No. 214 and is editor of the Lodge newsletter. Larry has been affiliated with PAPA since 1986 and a board member for at least ten years. Larry also serves on the CECPM Board. Larry is married to his best friend of thirty-two years, Sara J. Head, QEP with AECOM . Two children: daughter Jessica, BA, MA, JD. and son Charles who is a sailor MM (E-6) and a Nuke in the US Navy on USS Scranton, an LA Class Fast Attack Sub. As a retiree, Larry is into Japanese swords, firearms, old “vintage” radios, photography, caring for the home, remodeling the yard, swap meets and is often found in Grass Valley checking in on his mom and high school friends. |
